Human Trafficking

Some days back, it
was reported that a London-Based nurse, Josephine Iyamu who happens to be a senatorial
aspirant under the umbrella of the APC in Nigeria has been found guilty of
trafficking five Nigerian women to Germany to work as prostitutes.
She is from
Edo state, Nigeria. Edo is well known in regards to the issue of human
trafficking. In 2017 between November and December, 1,100 Edo indigenes
were received from Libya. Were most are reported as cases of human trafficking
“THERE IS A
PROBLEM”
First,
there is negligence on the part of the party that accepted her to run under their umbrella without proper
investigation. The APC wants to gain major grounds in the next general
elections and I believe this is a great stain to their party. A political party
should preach transparency and outright discipline. This alone can reduce the
support they already have from the citizen. No thinking citizen would want to
be governed by traffickers.
Second, we
know there is a problem but can it be tackled? My sincere answer is No because
if human trafficking have been in existence since time immemorial then it can’t
be totally extinguished but it can be reduced. It is a business now, it is a
means of income and it ensures return in investment. Call it what you like,
Human Trafficking is a flourishing business. Criminals now see it as a norm.
Human Trafficking just like terrorism is an idea that is acted upon so it can’t
be killed.
Finally, I wonder if
these human traffickers do not have emotions running through their veins
because to me it is inhuman to deprive people of their right to freedom. My
last post was about slave trade and how it has affected the world, little did I
know that the former slaves are now at the helm of modern slave trade.
I would appreciate your comments.
Well noted kola they really do not have emotions at all. but also, the question that comes to my mind is, how do this people get to the hands of the human traffickers? Cause I feel if we know "HOW" then we can try to prevent it
